Today is the very last “First Day of Classes” I will ever experience, and it was great. Morning surprises, great classes, refreshing faces, and lots and lots of love. Something tells me this will be a good semester.

How was your first day?

I had an impromptu shoot with my sister since everyone else was out. We wanted to stay in, but had nothing to do. I got ready for bed early, since I had to catch a morning flight to Cagayan the next day, but who can resist an offer from a talented photographer? So, eyeliner on, and we we’re good to go!

Repost from JackKaye:

As I said before: my younger sister, Krys, is home for her sembreak. Every time she comes home we always do the following:

1. Go to the gym

2. Go to the beach

3. Have a photoshoot

Well sembreak is ending and true to our tradition we’ve done all three. Here’s a snippet of our totally awesome and well thought out (giggle) photoshoot.

The soft pretty light was nice but I wanted something more subdued… almost desaturated even.

Then I thought, subdued and high contrast would be awesome:

My sister told me I should never have children! :|

trick

I can’t help it if I was raised in an environment that made bullying natural to me! I remember banging clear envelopes on the innocent heads of my preschool classmates (male ones at that!), stealing cookies from unsuspecting lunch boxes during grade school playtime, and horrible horrible things in high school, like refusing to give Jaye her brownies/marshmallows and giving everyone else a piece, or laughing hysterically at physically challenged kids when they eat or play sports (AHEM SANDIE LOW).  I never realized that I’d carry it out through and through. Even in college, at times I let the fun of bullying take control over me (will not define how this time, forgive me, rest assured its subtle, and not of the kid-in-the-trashcan-sort). Michael has undoubtedly experienced my tyranny, and willingly complies by carrying all my stuff, or taking that extra mile to save me from having to do it myself (Sorry!). Gosh, I’ve even passed it on to Gavin! Now, Gavin is very easily frightened, especially by rough things and most recently, the Christmas tree. But, despite knowing that, I just can’t help bringing him to it and laughing as I watch him squirm around in fear. (KILL ME! IM HORRIBLE!) Actually, It’s not as bad as it sounds, I do damage control right afterwards, so that’s got to count for something. I’m just scared that next halloween, he might dress up as me and start terrorizing little children. I DIE!

Well, the bullying has got to stop sometime, and I’ve decided that right after this “Backpacking through Mindanao” trip (what a lie), I will stop (or try to, at least). So as soon as I get back to Cebu on Saturday, I will be the sweetest little darling you’ve ever met. Out with the old, and in with the new!

As of 9:33 AM on November 3, I have received a total of 27,297 hits from June of this year, up to the start of the sixth month of my dearest blog. Thank you so much to everyone who takes precious time away from their days to visit my site. It means a lot that people actually care what I’m up to. <3 Much love.

I’ve also made 87 posts, this being my 88th. Who knew I had so much to say? People often wonder what got me to start this blog. I’ve never exactly been the blogging type, never really opened up to anyone without a need to. And as anyone can see, this isn’t exactly that kind of blog. It’s just a reason for me to say what I wan’t less the criticism (cause I can edit out comments! nyahaha, a favorite feature of many, but surprisingly, I haven’t gotten to use it yet.)

NOW…here’s the part of wordpress that really amuses me. SEARCH ENGINE TERMS.

Although I’m used to the “bea soriano” “martine cajucom” and “rosanna aranaz” related searches, and the occasional “kylie misa” and “jaye borromeo” ones, I just can’t help but laugh (and sometimes shudder with revulsion) at the sight of some of the others. search engine terms

“sleepover bad” -> Gross. and to google it? My god! What has the world come to?

“krystle uy sched” -> Ok, this is just creepy. Creepy person, you should be ashamed of yourself! Whoever Krystle Uy you’re looking for (there are a lot, I’m quite sure) I hope you don’t find her!

Because of this, my dear readers, I am left with no choice but to erase some posts I’ve made for safety reasons. (It’s really kinda creepy.) Maybe it’s a common thing for veteran bloggers, but I’m not one of them, so safety measures are gonna come into play. :|

I just have to post this! HAHAHA GIAN LAO, I HATE YOU!

Blazer: Esprit de corps|| Tank, Pants, Bracelets: WAGW|| Heels: Naturalizer|| Other accessories: H&M, Tag Heuer

As much as I would like to do a halloween post, I have no pictures at my disposal to guide you dear readers about it, so I might as well skip that until I do. Yesterday was All Saints Day, so naturally, people head off to the cemetery to pay respects. Our family cemetery isn’t exactly the safest and best place to be, so pants were a natural must. However, I only brought one pair of jeans to Cebu, and they were still in the wash! Forgive me, Cebu doesn’t strike me as a denim jeans kind of city. I was “forced” (at my own will, hee hee) to wear these super cool boyfriend jeans that (probably belong to my sister, but since she’s not here…) were left by my bed, as if waiting for me to try them on! Sweet success, they fit! …and the rest is history.

And of course, I didn’t wear heels to the cemetery, don’t be silly. I didn’t wear the blazer either. While its pouring rain over at manila, Cebu remains at its sunny best, with temperatures over and around 38 degrees. How can I possibly wear it? And on another note, how can I possibly keep my hair down? My curls are dying with humidity adding weight, and whats worse, ponytail lines are forming at the part where I usually keep the hold up. It’s really hard to feel good about yourself and have a good day when your hair is all messed up and gross from the moment you step out of the shower. So what’s a girl to do? Devise a pretty cool updo to beat the heat! (gross, did I just say beat the heat? Infomercial much. :| ) Just a few spritz of mousse and some basic black bobby’s to messily hold everything in place, and voila!
updo

Despite having to constantly wipe the sweat off my face, I’m really loving how the sunlight brings out the red in my hair. I used to want salon colored hair since the red of my natural color doesn’t really come out when its dark, but I’m perpetually banned from laying any dye product on my locks, courtesy of my mom. So, up until now, I’ve never actually tried anything drastic. I do the works by myself, with the comforts of my trusty flat iron curling and straightening away. Maybe my childhood dreams of being a hairstylist are coming back to tell me something. Hmmm… possible career path? Questionable.

Someone stop time?

On a brighter note, i had an awesome time at Jeff’s last night! Great to spend some time and have some fun with the gang before  hell breaks loose.

PS.

WAGW Manila opens at 5pm today! Check us out at Galleria, 3rd floor.<3

For the past few days, I’ve been busy with two things.

First: WORK.

My sisters, Diane and JackKaye, flew to Manila to handle pre-opening operations for our first branch at the nations capital. WAGW is opening in Robinson’s Galleria on OCTOBER 30! That means I’m left to handle more visual merchandising and mannequin-styling for the Visayas (SM and Ayala Cebu) and Mindanao (LimKetKai CDO) branches. Doesn’t that sound pretty awesome?

mannestyling

More and more mannequins are starting to dress like me HAHA. I tried to diversify the styles a bit, but I guess my personal style still came out eventually. I also had to dress up the male mannequins for WAGW FHM (For her man). I have absolutely no experience when it comes to styling men, so this was actually my very first chance to try it out. I made each mannequin dress up like the guys I see in school (i.e. Gian Lao, Hanz Go, Raymond Ang, and Pat Angeles HAHA) Sorry, this is the best I can do.

mannestylingmen

On top of mannequin styling, I had to fix the display area and the show window for both WAGW and WAGW FHM. I was really running out of ideas, since I had limited stock to work with, so I tried to be creative and resourceful! I matched basic tops with neckpieces that I created out of printed stockings tied together. Maybe all these CADs costumes are influencing me too much. I added some high waisted shorts and accessories to go with the shirts, and some strategically placed scarves (since we ran out of stockings) on the foot of the window for the finishing touches. I think this is a far throw from what my sister usually creates on  the window frame, but… change is good! I hope. :|

IMG_0605IMG_0602IMG_0601

And lastly, I had to create a display for the FHM window frame. First, I opted to go for the halloween vibe: Orange, Black and some skulls to go with it, but I thought it was too overused, and no one really wears orange and black on halloween anyway. So instead, I got some black shirts with neon graphics printed on them and put bow ties and mini neckties on the collar. That plus some hanging/floating hats, belts and shoes (no picture) and my work is finally done!

IMG_0609IMG_0608IMG_0610

Second: DRIVING.

Oh, the driving lessons have finally made their way into my schedule after the looooong procrastination period. I had my last lesson just a while ago. I think I’m getting the hang of it. Sure, I almost bumped a couple of cars and people on the way, but thats part of it right? HAHA. I wan’t to give a HUGE thank you to Mike for being my driving buddy, even if all he does is sleep in the car. His presence reassures me that if I crash into someone, he’s there to take the blame. (JUST KIDDING MIKE). I like it that he’s able to sleep while I’m driving. It means the ride is too soothing and smooth to stay awake. ;)

Finally finally, I’ll have time to go back to the gym. And maybe do some swimming, if time permits. 11 more days ’til Manila, 12 more days ’til class. SIGH. Somehow, its hard to part with my very last semestral break.

ROSANNA ARANAZ

that I can’t put my finger on.

Maybe its her amazing sense of style (note, its the style, not the trend!) that pulls me to read her blog and wait for a new outfit post all the time. I’m trying to write about this without sounding too much of a fangirl, cause that’s just freaky. So before I start to rant about how her blog is my favorite among all the local fashion blogs I’ve ever read, I’ll stop and let YOU get the chance to do that for yourself.

Check out Rosana at Little Miss Dress Up and Looking for Lola.

I spent yesterday afternoon styling mannequins for WAGW. Visual merchandising seems very appealing! True, its tough work to try and make everything look good with limited items at your disposal. The lack of which, however, actually creates a challenge which strangely entices me. Possibly a future career path? Considerable.

The girls are coming over today for the sleepover! Finally, I get to see them! I don’t know why I’ve gotten so lazy lately. I keep passing on invites to go out and have fun, despite people’s senior-year-its-our-last-sem-break rantings. Last night, Dad even asked me why I’ve been staying in. Something tells me I’m getting too old for this. I’d rather spend time playing with the kids, having late night food cravings (courtesy of JackKaye) or watch Boston Legal (enter never ending side comments) with dad. I’ve never really been much of a party girl. Admittedly, throughout my entire college life, I’ve never set foot in a bar/club/whatever you call it. Nope, not Embassy, not Fiamma, not any other bar where the night lives on. Somehow, a room full of sweaty drunk people raising their arms and jumping around just never appealed to me. Whenever classmates and friends hear this, they get so shocked and somewhat appalled.. as if I was missing half my life by not drinking the night away. Maybe I am. But then again, saves me worry from getting bad skin and a beer belly.  :P

Coming Soon SM for web

WAGW and WAGW FHM (What A Girl Wants For Her Man) is opening in SM Cebu by the end of the week, and in Robinson’s Galleria, Manila, by the end of the month. That makes a total of four branches, including the ones at Ayala Cebu and LKK Cagayan de Oro. I’m so amazed at how fast the business is growing. To think this all started because my sister wasn’t content with the shopping places in Cebu. She first opened in the Maze at Ayala Cebu, and has been receiving offers from a lot of malls ever since. Newspapers always feature the WAGW clothing line, and exhibits are always keen on asking her to sponsor or display clothes. Of course the work load gets overwhelming at times, but seeing the growth of the company always makes all the effort worth it.

If I’m not busy helping with that, Im busy playing with my oh so adorable niece and nephew, Izzy and Gavin! Playing with them is such a feat! They’ve gotten so heavy, giving my arms an instant work out every time I carry them. They’ve also learned a lot of tricks, including throwing tantrums or making pouty faces to get what they want, or acting cute to get someone to pick them up from their playpen and carry them around. The sad thing is that both the kids are sick, so we can’t get them to play with each other or else they’ll never feel better. :(

I also find time to squeeze in the gym. I can’t seem to get enough physical activity! I signed up for Holiday Gym and Spa yesterday with my sister. She absolutely abhors the gym, and never finds interest in their classes. I always have to force her to come with me whenever I’m home. Yesterday, however, we took that intense spinning class, and she actually enjoyed it! You can’t imagine how happy that makes me, even despite our bruised butts from that stupid cycling machine! Sadly though, she can’t always join me at the gym since her boss (Ma’am Diane, my eldest sister haha) would kill her for skipping work. I wish Kat Lozano lived in Cebu instead of Davao, then we could be gym buddies together! It’s always easier to continue something if you have a friend going through the same thing with you.

Haven’t exactly had time to go to the beach, but hopefully, that will come sometime soon. I really need to de-stress from first semester hell, and prep myself for the coming second semester. Good thing the girls are coming this thursday for the annual sleepover. That’s one more thing for me to look forward to. <3
