In just a few hours, CADs will conquer the biggest streetdance competition on the metro! This time, we gon’ bring it!

A big goodluck and congratulations to the team for going this far. You’re all awesome beyond awesome and I know you’ll kick butt later! This is probably the strongest piece I’ve ever scene from CADs! Let’s go guys!

Today, a couple of people congratulated me, and I really didn’t know what for. They kept saying “program awardee”, but I had no idea what that meant, and their knowing smiles didn’t really help either. I only figured it out after interrogating Martin about it in class for a good few minutes. Apparently, I was nominated as one of the program awardees for my course (Communications Technology Management). He said it’s something like being the course valedictorian, but I highly doubt that cause I’m hardly the smartest person in Comtech! Then Pat B told me it was something about being well rounded and all. COOL BEANS! I’m finally getting something good for all the extra curriculars I’ve been juggling around. I remember my parents always complaining about my busy schedule in high school. I kind of quadrupled that in college when I got into JTA, SOMba, CADs, some modeling and styling gigs, and now writing for Inquirer… But I bet their not complaining now! HAHA. Maybe if I get this award, I won’t have so much pressure getting that honor for my mom. (I think if I stress myself out any more with all this, I might just have a complete breakdown!) So this news is the BEST NEWS I’ve gotten in a while! I’m really really really happy to even get nominated, and I do hope to win it, but if someone else deserves it more, I’m totally up for that too. I feel so blessed that I even had time to do all of these, and especially more so now because I actually got recognized for it! Gosh, I can’t say it enough, I’m really really happy!

P.S.

The pictures were all taken by DOM DYCAICO during the CADs Denouement concert. I just thought they looked pretty in-sync with my post for today haha. Pardon my face! I know its far from decent, but whatever! Raw Emotion always does it for me. <3

Today, I had a shoot for Inquirer’s 2bu feature (grab a copy next Saturday, NOV 28!) and I met the amazing BENJIE ANGELES. This Cebu native is an incredibly talented make-up artist (I’m really really picky with make-up artists, so he’s pretty good!), and accessories designer (check out the necklace he’s wearing!) all rolled into one ball of perkiness. The two of us hit it off pretty fast. As soon as we both found out we were both from the queen city of the south, we couldn’t keep our mouths shut! (this, inspite of the hushed snickers of eavesdroppers making fun of the way we talk! Yes, we heard you!) My little chat with him started with Cebu’s famous 55-peso-steamed-rice from Harbor City or Ding Qua Qua, and ended with him telling me he would do my make-up on my wedding day! It’s amazing how having one thing in common with someone makes getting along seem like a breeze.

Benjie says he transferred to Manila to seek greener pastures as a Make-up Artist. You see, in Cebu, people don’t pay much for having their make up done. He says he remembers getting paid a measly Php5,000 for putting make-up on 15 people on a wedding day! Now, he charges Php3,500 for one and sometimes Php15,000 for 3, and does make up usually on celebrities or photo shoots for magazines and newspapers. Definitely a step-up.

Here are some pictures of me made up by Benjie:

…and here’s a close up of my eyes (and incredibly long false eyelashes!) Sorry about the picture quality, I really have zero knowledge about cameras, so I can’t adjust the settings no matter how simple it may be!

During his free time, Benjie makes jewelry. He says that on an average day, he can make about 1000 necklaces with his eyes closed! Currently, he’s negotiating with Hindy Weber-Tantoco of Rustan’s for a collaboration with Celine Lopez on his jewellry business. Rustan’s is going to carry his line and order thousands of necklaces and bangles. Very very impressive for a former cheap labor make-up assistant from Cebu! I’m so proud of him! All I can say is: Benjie, when you get famous, don’t forget me!

burnt out 2I really don’t understand why a cloud of despondency has rested above my head and refused to leave. Despite my… well, less than substantial efforts, i cant. I can’t seem to start anything, or end anything, or put effort into anything, or find my usual perky self. Not for school, not for dancing, not for anything really. I really hope its just one of those days.

She’s a lazy daisy
Watching the sun turn
Into rain and maybe
Waiting for something
To take the pain
She don’t know why
It doesn’t shine
In her rainbow sky
Everytime
She won’t say
How the word can play
She won’t say
How you can stay
She’s a lazy daisy
Painting pictures in her head
Sweet like candy
Loving all of what is said
She don’t know why
It doesn’t shine
In her rainbow sky
Everytime

The only thing I can say about last Friday is that… IM SO OLD! However, despite being one out of the only two seniors there, despite not knowing anyone else but Ekay, and despite the fact that the show was an absolute disaster (oh choreography!), I actually had fun looking like a fish in Neon Green make up. The failure was nice. It loosened us up at least, and we just went with it. I can’t remember being in anything so uncoordinated, no offense to the organizers, but hey, its another experience to write about. Thank you so much to Ekay for keeping me company amidst the chaos! I left as soon as it was done. I feel horrible for ditching, but I just had to grab a bite or I think I would have fainted. Thank you to Jeff and Steven who came “to see me”, even though I’m positive I know Jeff’s ulterior motives (perfect skin, perfect cheekbones, perfect nose…). And lastly, thank you Mike for bringing me some food, I was dying of hunger (the trouble with being a vegetarian!).

P.S.

Congratulations Manny!

Also, a big congratulations to ANDREW YU for being one of the 12 chosen finalists for Star Manila 2009! (and sorry I couldn’t be there to witness it first hand!)

Someone please oh please get me this for Christmas?????

topshop heelsheelsI’ve been in search for the perfect high heels for 4 months now, and I still haven’t found the right one! When I do find the next best thing, it’s either too overpriced (did I forget to mention my grand debt to WAGW for over shopping?), or already sold out. Just a few weeks ago, I saw Liz Uy (Preview’s fashion editor, a super-kaduper icon for me)  in Rockwell pulling out heels from Charles and Keith, probably to feature them on preview. The moment I realized it was her, I couldn’t do anything but stare. OH MY GOD, KILL ME. I was ogling scarily at some tall thin chick holding a bunch of shoes. I would be scared of myself. ANYWAY, my point is, she was wearing these electric blue suede booties that gave her an additional 5-6 inches. They kind of look like the shoes above, but with a different color. I wasn’t even considering anything like that, but after I saw how totally awesome she looked in them, I HAVE to HAVE to HAVE them.

If I don’t get Liz Uy shoes for Christmas, then can I please have her job? :|

Today is the very last “First Day of Classes” I will ever experience, and it was great. Morning surprises, great classes, refreshing faces, and lots and lots of love. Something tells me this will be a good semester.

How was your first day?

I had an impromptu shoot with my sister since everyone else was out. We wanted to stay in, but had nothing to do. I got ready for bed early, since I had to catch a morning flight to Cagayan the next day, but who can resist an offer from a talented photographer? So, eyeliner on, and we we’re good to go!

Repost from JackKaye:

As I said before: my younger sister, Krys, is home for her sembreak. Every time she comes home we always do the following:

1. Go to the gym

2. Go to the beach

3. Have a photoshoot

Well sembreak is ending and true to our tradition we’ve done all three. Here’s a snippet of our totally awesome and well thought out (giggle) photoshoot.

The soft pretty light was nice but I wanted something more subdued… almost desaturated even.

Then I thought, subdued and high contrast would be awesome:

trick

I can’t help it if I was raised in an environment that made bullying natural to me! I remember banging clear envelopes on the innocent heads of my preschool classmates (male ones at that!), stealing cookies from unsuspecting lunch boxes during grade school playtime, and horrible horrible things in high school, like refusing to give Jaye her brownies/marshmallows and giving everyone else a piece, or laughing hysterically at physically challenged kids when they eat or play sports (AHEM SANDIE LOW).  I never realized that I’d carry it out through and through. Even in college, at times I let the fun of bullying take control over me (will not define how this time, forgive me, rest assured its subtle, and not of the kid-in-the-trashcan-sort). Michael has undoubtedly experienced my tyranny, and willingly complies by carrying all my stuff, or taking that extra mile to save me from having to do it myself (Sorry!). Gosh, I’ve even passed it on to Gavin! Now, Gavin is very easily frightened, especially by rough things and most recently, the Christmas tree. But, despite knowing that, I just can’t help bringing him to it and laughing as I watch him squirm around in fear. (KILL ME! IM HORRIBLE!) Actually, It’s not as bad as it sounds, I do damage control right afterwards, so that’s got to count for something. I’m just scared that next halloween, he might dress up as me and start terrorizing little children. I DIE!

Well, the bullying has got to stop sometime, and I’ve decided that right after this “Backpacking through Mindanao” trip (what a lie), I will stop (or try to, at least). So as soon as I get back to Cebu on Saturday, I will be the sweetest little darling you’ve ever met. Out with the old, and in with the new!

As of 9:33 AM on November 3, I have received a total of 27,297 hits from June of this year, up to the start of the sixth month of my dearest blog. Thank you so much to everyone who takes precious time away from their days to visit my site. It means a lot that people actually care what I’m up to. <3 Much love.

I’ve also made 87 posts, this being my 88th. Who knew I had so much to say? People often wonder what got me to start this blog. I’ve never exactly been the blogging type, never really opened up to anyone without a need to. And as anyone can see, this isn’t exactly that kind of blog. It’s just a reason for me to say what I wan’t less the criticism (cause I can edit out comments! nyahaha, a favorite feature of many, but surprisingly, I haven’t gotten to use it yet.)

NOW…here’s the part of wordpress that really amuses me. SEARCH ENGINE TERMS.

Although I’m used to the “bea soriano” “martine cajucom” and “rosanna aranaz” related searches, and the occasional “kylie misa” and “jaye borromeo” ones, I just can’t help but laugh (and sometimes shudder with revulsion) at the sight of some of the others. search engine terms

“sleepover bad” -> Gross. and to google it? My god! What has the world come to?

“krystle uy sched” -> Ok, this is just creepy. Creepy person, you should be ashamed of yourself! Whoever Krystle Uy you’re looking for (there are a lot, I’m quite sure) I hope you don’t find her!

Because of this, my dear readers, I am left with no choice but to erase some posts I’ve made for safety reasons. (It’s really kinda creepy.) Maybe it’s a common thing for veteran bloggers, but I’m not one of them, so safety measures are gonna come into play. :|
